The only way in which current legislation allows us to give out information of a death or marriage registration is in the form of a certificate (which can be used for official purposes), or a copy of a registration.
Births, Deaths and Marriages have a number of products available which provide information on death and marriages that occur in New Zealand

Fees and Timeframes
Certificates - (official documents)

The processing time for certificates is up to eight working days for events prior to 1998and one working day for events since 1998, plus delivery time.
Death, Marriage or Civil Union Printouts - (These are not official documents)
[FONT=Symbol, serif]· [/FONT]NZ$26.50 if the event took place from 1848 to 1874
[FONT=Symbol, serif]· [/FONT]NZ$20.40 if the event took place after 1874.
The processing time for all printouts is up to eight working days.
Please note that records that can be ordered online are for Historical records only, which are:

[FONT=Symbol, serif]· [/FONT]Deaths that occurred at least 50 years ago, or where the deceased was born at least 80 years ago

If you wish to order a certificate or printout that occurred after the above timeframes, you will need to complete an application form, which can be downloaded from our website

If you want to order a historical record the information you will need to provide with payment is:

Our records are held in date order, so we need to know the year in which the event occurred. If you cannot supply the exact year, you have several options:
[FONT=Symbol, serif]· [/FONT]We can search our records for you for an additional fee of NZ$15.30 for the first three years searched, and NZ$1.00 for each extra year.
