Re: Районы Central Auckland/North Shore/Manukau/West Auckland
I remember being rather unimpressed the last time I visited Lone Star Takapuna (which was perhaps 6 months ago) but regretfully made the decision to dine there again last night with my partner & my parents. We were seated promptly as the restaurant wasn't very busy. A friendly waiter advised us of the night's specials & took orders for drinks, which also arrived promptly. We ordered some entrees to share - The Lone Star (garlic) Loaf & the Holy Moly Guacamole with Tortilla chips. The bread itself was nice however the garlic butter (which you spread on yourself) wasn't actually very garlicky. The guacamole & tortillas were very bland. Better luck with the mains we thought. Wrong! My rack of lamb arrived raw (not just rare) in parts & my side salad never arrived at all. Neither did the glass of water that my partner had asked one of the waitresses for. My mum & my partner both ordered the Lasso of Hog, which was overcooked & very dry. My dad ordered the Kiwi Joker, with his steak arriving undercooked. To top it off, all 3 were served ridiculously huge portions of "buffalo chips" which were actually more just like huge chunks of roast potato! To their credit they did try very hard to put things right once they found out we were unhappy with our dining experience. My meal was removed from the table & also from the bill. I reluctantly ordered some squid (at no charge) since I had hardly touched my lamb. It arrived with lightening speed, along with my side salad, but unfortunately that too was disappointing. The menu described it as being lightly dusted with seasoned flour but in reality it was heavily dusted in an overpowering Cajun seasoning. They did also offer us free dessert or coffee but we politely declined & settled the bill. Upon leaving we were handed a $20 dessert voucher, to be used on our next visit. Somehow, I doubt there will be one.
